As we gather to remember those who have lost their lives to this epidemic, we reflect on what we have learned, seen and felt on our journey. Today, we are reminded that all of our gains will be lost if we do not continue to push forward and build a strong global movement to change the course of this epidemic. We commit to honor their legacy by uniting to reach vulnerable populations who still lack access to prevention, treatment and care.
All members of the Omaha community are invited to come together in remembrance of all the people we have lost to HIV/AIDS and to unite in support for people living with HIV. A section of the AIDS Memorial Quilt will be present for viewing.
World AIDS Day is held on the 1st December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day, held for the first time in 1988.
