OMAHA – It’s the season of giving, and students, staff and faculty at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) are paying it forward this month with several charity drives.
TEDDY BEAR DRIVE
Since November, UNO’s AFROTC has been collecting teddy bears for families at the Siena/Francis House homeless shelter. On Saturday, Dec. 12, at noon the cadets will deliver more than 300 bears.
Media are welcome to attend. The donation will happen at the shelter’s loading dock, just north of 17th & Nicholas.
COAT AND BLANKET DRIVE

COFFEE DRIVE
UNO’s Division of Continuing Studies is collecting coffee that will be donated to the Stephen Center emergency shelter. Organizers say the shelter has a high need for coffee and it’s rarely donated.
Donations can be dropped off at the Division of Continuing Studies office in the College of Public Affairs and Community Service building (CPACS room 207), through Tuesday, Dec. 22.
BOOKS FOR AFRICA
UNO Student Involvement is sponsoring a book drive this December. Donated new or used books can be dropped off at a collection box located in the UNO Bookstore through Friday, Dec. 18.
All the books will go to the Books for Africa Project, which collects, sorts, ships and distributes books to students of all ages in Africa.
Faculty and staff can request book pick-up by clicking here: https://orgsync.com/65536/forms/174960.
