Student Poster Competition on Low Impact Development | $1,000 in Prize Money

The Center for Urban Sustainability at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) is hosting the 2016 Great Plains Low Impact Development (LID) Research Innovation Symposium in the UNO Community Engagement Center on March 7-9.

In conjunction with the event, a poster competition is being held for university students from across the region. Posters will address the practical, research and policy implications of LID, which is an approach to land development that mimics natural management of stormwater and enhances the incorporation of nature and quality-of-life benefits into urban and suburban communities.

Topics may include LID strategies in public policy, biodiversity and landscape sustainability, green infrastructure, innovative land development, permeable pavement, green roofs, the health benefits of human-nature connections, etc. The Nebraska Floodplain and Stormwater Managers Association has donated $1,000 for winning entries which will be judged by association members during the event on March 8 and announced at an evening awards presentation.
