Honors students have received Truman, Rangel, Fulbright, and Goldwater awards, as well as been recognized as finalists in other nationally competitive scholarship programs. These national awards carry scholarship monies and prestige, as well as networking connections that can last a lifetime. Receiving a nationally competitive award is a tremendous distinction for the student--and for the University, since such prominent acknowledgment of student excellence cements UNO and Honors as having the best students.
Please check out the Office of National Scholarships and Fellowships for details on prestigious opportunities.
We encourage Honors students to think ahead about possibilities. Applying for a national fellowship or scholarship is very competitive and takes time and effort--but we are here to help. It's never too early to start thinking about applying.
Students can learn a lot about their goals and career plans through the process of applying for one of these awards. Whether their interests lie in public service or scientific research, or whether they want to work in the Foreign Service or teach English abroad, nationally competitive awards are great steps on their pathways. And the application process encourages students to invest in their own dreams and ambitions in working toward such an award.
The Program and its staff are committed to supporting a student’s whole development, such as nominating and supporting their applications for national fellowships and scholarships, as well as applications for graduate and professional schools.
