🎯 Project Focus: The Summer Musical Theatre Academy (SMTA) provides tuition-free, industry-level training for high school musical theatre performers, technicians, and musicians in the Omaha area. Hosted by UNO's Theatre Department, SMTA ensures that students from all backgrounds have access to professional-level training and performance opportunities. By expanding outreach and building community partnerships, SMTA helps foster the next generation of theatre artists while strengthening UNO's role as a leader in arts education.
💡 Why It Matters
- Access to arts education is limited: Many high school theatre programs lack resources and funding, limiting student opportunities for professional training.
- Omaha’s arts community is growing: Hands-on training prepares students for careers in theatre, strengthening Nebraska’s cultural and creative economy.
