🎯 Project Focus: UNO Jumpstart is designed to bridge the gap between high school and college by extending the successful Summer Scholars Program. This initiative provides targeted support, mentorship, and academic experiences for Omaha-area students throughout their senior year and the summer before college. By fostering a sense of belonging and academic preparedness, UNO Jumpstart aims to increase student retention, reduce barriers to college success, and ensure a smooth transition into higher education.
💡 Why It Matters
- First-year success is critical for college retention: Students who engage in early academic and social integration are more likely to persist and graduate.
- Many students need additional support navigating college: Barriers like financial aid, course selection, and campus engagement can hinder success for incoming students.
- Students benefit from structured transition programs: UNO Jumpstart provides mentorship, enrichment activities, and academic preparation to help students thrive.
