About Kevin

What was your first connection with UNO?
I have spent majority of my professional career in college admissions. I have worked in both undergraduate and graduate admissions at a small private university in Kansas City. I moved with my family to Omaha in the fall of 2018, and I knew I wanted to continue working in higher education as well as college admissions. I joined the UNO Community as an Undergraduate Transfer Admissions Representative in July 2019.

How did you learn about UNO?
I remember really learning about UNO when I was in college. While I went to school in Kansas City, two of my close friends attended UNO. One studied pre-nursing (she is now on her way to becoming a Nurse Practitioner) and the other studied marketing and was on the women’s soccer team. Both loved their time here at UNO.

What was one of your first experiences with UNO?
One of my first experiences with UNO was cheering for the women’s soccer team. The team was in Kansas City playing against the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and my friend was playing for UNO at the time. It was a great first experience getting to cheer on the Mavericks, even though my friend broke her nose that game!

What is one of your best experiences with UNO?
My wife and I were actually married at the Scott Conference Center on the Scott Campus! My wedding day was one of the happiest days of my life, and I was able to celebrate in Aksarben surrounded by everything UNO.

What do you enjoy most about working with students?
I love getting to help shape the lives of individuals. This is a major point in the student’s life, no matter what age they are. I am happy to make the transition and process smooth and easy for them. It can be overwhelming for the students, so I enjoy talking through their thoughts and aspirations and connecting those goals to UNO.

What do you enjoy most about working at UNO?
The best part about working at UNO is the people I work with. I get to come to work with an awesome team of individuals. As I get to know more departments and offices, I see everyone is very student-centered as well. It’s also great being part of a university that is so student focused and so involved in the surrounding community.

What makes UNO unique from other universities?
It comes down to size and location. UNO is a wonderful size with around a 15,000 enrollment. It allows students to have individual attention academically, while still being large enough to see new people every day. Being located in the heart of Omaha is amazing as well. The city is wonderful both professionally and socially. Since UNO is such a major part of the city, there is a huge variety of organizations that look specifically for UNO students for jobs and internships.  There are so many hidden gems and things to do in the city as well. Getting to explore new spots has been one of my favorite things about moving to Omaha.
