Experiential education is a method of learning through your first-hand experience.
Internships
An internship is a form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting.
Internships give students the opportunity to gain valuable applied experience and make connections in professional fields they are considering for career paths; and give employers the opportunity to guide and evaluate talent (NACE, 2023).
Field Experience and Clinical Practice
Field work allows students to apply content learned in the classroom in an external setting. Practicums are often a required component of a course of study in which students are placed in a supervised setting to apply classroom learning and develop competencies.
Study Abroad
Studying abroad includes engaging in coursework in another country while experiencing cultural immersion.
Research
Students can gain research experience with faculty guidance.
Service Learning
Service learning combines classroom instruction with meaningful, community-identified service.
