Omaha Area Health Education Center (AHEC)
Established in 2019 and housed in the University of Nebraska at Omaha Health Careers Resource Center, the Omaha AHEC—Nebraska’s only urban AHEC—works with folks at every stage of training in healthcare professions, from high school, college, and professional students to professionals currently working in healthcare.
The Omaha Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is housed at UNO and serves Douglas and Sarpy County. Omaha AHEC is part of the Nebraska AHEC Program, which works statewide through regional centers to connect students to health careers, health professionals to communities, and communities to better health. AHECs are created to aid health career training programs and communities in recruiting and training health care professionals to serve in rural and underserved areas, in order to meet the state’s health and health workforce needs.
