Take Your Learning Beyond the Classroom
In the Department of Political Science, there are opportunities for you to get involved with students and faculty who have similar interests and extend your learning outside the classroom. Not only are these unique opportunities to meet new people and take on a leadership role, but they also provide you with a chance to enhance your resume with meaningful experiences and involvement.
Student Organizations in Political Science:
- Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society - encourages excellence in the social sciences and enriches the learning experience through lectures, publications, and scholarships.
- Pre-Law Society - provides a forum for students interested in pursuing a career in law. The advisors counsel students on academic preparation for legal studies and navigating the law school application process.
- Phi Alpha Delta - the largest pre-law fraternity in the country. One in every five attorneys in the United States is a member of Phi Alpha Delta and more than 4,000 new members are initiated every year. With a total of more than 450,000 members who share a common interest in the law you could quickly become part of a vast alumni network (including current and former supreme court justices and former presidents).
-
Intelligence Community Scholars - career and professional development program, under the auspices of the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), to assist students pursuing national security and intelligence positions in government, academia and in the private sector.
