It Starts With a Question
In the College of Arts and Sciences, our curiosity often gets the best of us. When it does, we start asking questions and these are the heart and soul of research.
The faculty and students in Arts and Sciences ask some intriguing questions, which lead to some powerful research:
- History professor Waitman Beorn published a book of his research into the perspectives of German soldiers who carried out the extermination of 800,000 Jews during the Holocaust.
- Arts and Sciences students from Biology, Office of Latin/Latino American Studies (OLLAS), Foreign Languages & Literature collaborated and traveled to Lima, Peru to research the water crisis there.
- Undergraduates Lucas Harrison and Racine Rangel won 1st and 3rd place in competition with master's and doctoral students at the Nebraska Water Center Fall Conference at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Research not only answers our questions, but it also adds knowledge to the disciplines we care about, benefits communities, and can help solve global issues.
There are opportunities for our students to apply for grants to fund the research they care about, so they can leave a lasting impact on the world. If you're interested in doing your own research or partnering with a faculty member to assist with their research, ask your academic advisor for more information.
