What does it mean to participate in the Teacher-Researcher Partnerships Program?
Members of the TRPP are subject to the following commitments and benefits:
OPS Teachers
Commitments
- Attend mandatory orientation event(s) and follow all ethical/safety guidelines
- Conduct a minimum of 80 hours of genuine scientific research in cooperation with the UNO faculty mentor
- Complete a research lab/field notebook
- Actively participate and contribute ideas in weekly TRPP Journal Club
- Engage in periodic focus groups, interviews, and or surveys to evaluate program impacts
- Formally present research as part of annual TRPP Research Symposium
- Collaborate with mentors in post-project classroom activities

- Funding for supplies and services that support the research
- Access to resources and equipment at UNO

- Network and collaborate with leaders in science disciplines
- Transferability of knowledge, concepts, and/or activities to the K-12 environment
UNO Faculty
Commitments
- Mentor a participating teacher on a genuine scientific research project in the area(s) of science and/or science education
- Instruct the teacher mentee in the development and maintenance of a research lab or field notebook and other laboratory protocols
- Actively participate and contribute ideas in weekly TRPP Journal Club
- Engage in periodic focus groups, interviews, and/or surveys to evaluate program impacts
- Serve as expert reviewers of research projects presented during TRPP Research Symposium
- Engage with teachers post-project to benefit K-12 students
