Richard Lee - Inducted in 2006
Four years after earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from UNO in 1970, Richard Lee became the first black Certified Public Accountant in Nebraska.
Lee joined the United States Treasury Department, working as an agent with the Internal Revenue Service. In the 32 years that followed, he rose through the IRS ranks and worked in offices throughout the country as a revenue agent, appeals officer, audit group manager and regional analyst; examination branch chief; audit division chief and assistant district director.
Lee served as dean of the IRS School of Taxation and as Director of Corporate Examinations. He retired from the IRS in 2002 and became president of his own tax consulting company, serving clients in more than a dozen countries on four continents. Sadly, he passed away in February 2007.
