Frank L. Mansell - Inducted in 1992
Frank L. Mansell was elected Chairman in 1980 and Chief Executive Officer in 1981 of Blyth Eastman Paine Webber Incorporated.
He began reducing his business activities in 1983-84. Mr. Mansell continued as a Director of Paine Webber Group Incorporated until 1988 and as an Advisory Director of Paine Webber Incorporated until his complete retirement in 1991.
Mr. Mansell was born in Omaha in 1922. He received a Bachelor of Science degree with Distinction from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1944 and a Master of Business Administration degree with Distinction from Harvard University Graduate School of Business in 1948. He was a George F. Baker Scholar at Harvard. Mr. Mansell served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1943 to 1946 with rank of Lieutenant, J.G. He joined Blyth and Company, Inc. in New York in 1952.
He was elected vice president in 1956, director in 1962, and president in 1971. He was elected Vice Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Blyth Eastman Dillon and Company in 1972. Mr. Mansell was a director of The Stanley Works for twenty years, last serving in 1984.
He serves as a Trustee of The Boys' Club of New York, having joined that Board twenty-eight years ago. Under his Chairmanship of the Education Committee from 1979-1988, a Summer School for Grammar School children was founded and scholarships were provided annually for about 100 boys in private preparatory schools and for about 80 boys in college and graduate schools.
In January of 1992 he received The Boys' Club of New York "Man Behind the Boy" award. He is a Trustee of the University of Nebraska Foundation. He is a former governor of the Investment Bankers Association of America and the Bond Club of New York. Mr. Mansell is Treasurer, Executive Committee Member, and a Governor of the United States Seniors' Golf Association.
Mr. Mansell and his wife, Edmona, have six children and ten grandchildren.
