Charles Platt - Inducted in 1997
Charles Platt was born in Detroit, Michigan, but grew up in Omaha where he graduated from North High School. After graduating from Omaha University, he started working for GMAC in the Omaha Branch. He assumed increasingly higher positions in North Platte, Norfolk, McCook, Lincoln and Sioux City before transferring to GMAC headquarters in New York City in 1966. He also received assignments in Detroit, Denver and Brussels, Belgium. |
In 1981, Platt was appointed vice president of GMAC, During this time, he earned an Executive MBA from Columbia University in New York City and graduated in 1984. He retired from GMAC in 1987 as vice president of Eastern United States and Canadian Operations.
After a brief retirement, Platt was elected president and chief operating officer of Alamo Rent A Car in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1989, and held that position until his retirement in 1995.
Currently, Platt lives in Denver and Grand Lake, Colorado with his Wife, Linda, He is also a member of the International Churchill Society and the Civil War Education Association.
