Colonel Guy M. Cloud, Jr. and Patricia Cloud - Inducted in 2001
The Colonel Guy M. Cloud, Jr. and Patricia Cloud Student-Managed Investment Fund was established in Spring 2001 through the University of Nebraska Foundation. Colonel Cloud, a UNO alumnus, though not a business graduate, stipulated that the gift be used to educate and benefit students interested in business and investing.
As an outgrowth of the gift, the College of Business Administration has created a portfolio management course and the Maverick Investment Club, an organization open to any UNO student. In 2001, students began investing the initial portion of the gift.
Proceeds generated by the investment fund are being used in two ways: to establish the Colonel Guy M. Cloud, Jr. and Patricia Cloud Professor of Investment Sciences at UNO, and to create scholarships for students pursuing a degree in business administration at UNOmaha.
Cloud, who was stationed at Strategic Air Command at Offutt Air Force Base during his career, says he wanted to share his success in the investment arena with the next generation of investment professionals. "I don't have any formal investment training, but I've been investing for 50 years. It's my hope that this fund will give students the real-world experience they need for success after graduation."
