Kiernan earned his Master's of Science in Management from Farleigh Dickinson University in 1974.
Kiernan worked in controllership and development in Warner-Lambert's various domestic and international product lines, including over-the-counter drugs, personal care products, cosmetics, confectionaries, and pharmaceuticals. He also worked in the company's venture capital function. Kiernan led several financial reengineering projects, as well as the Y2K systems transition. He retired in 2000 when Pfizer acquired Warner-Lambert for $116 billion.
Kiernan looks back on his academic years at UNO as the foundation of his career at Warner-Lambert. He recalls with fondness his employment at the first UNO computer center in 1965 where he provided EDP support to Dr. Jack Hill's senior strategic management class.
Dr. Hill utilized computer simulation models of competitive business situations. He believes that the knowledge gained from the simulation, particularly in team leadership and diversity, helped him throughout his career. In gratitude to UNO, Kiernan has established the Keith V. Kiernan Student Scholarship Fund.
