Carl and Joyce Mammel - Inducted in 1998
"In order for Omaha to grow, we must start with a strategy to retain our best and brightest – to identify young people who have compiled good records and encourage them to attend UNO." These are the words of Carl Mammel, who together with his wife Joyce, have established the Mammel Foundation College of Business Administration Student and Faculty Excellence Fund.
A long-time business leader in the Omaha area, Carl Mammel has recognized that for the community to continue growing and developing, the young people of the community must be encouraged to earn their education in Omaha and subsequently remain in the community to foster its continued progress.
Through the generous support of the Mammels, the College of Business Administration has been able to creative incentives for top students in the metropolitan area to remain in Omaha to obtain their degree. The Student Excellence portion of the gift provides up to six scholarships annually and 24 scholarships in total for students from the metropolitan Omaha area to attend UNOmaha and CBA.
In addition to the student scholarships, CBA faculty members are encouraged to participate in faculty internships at local firms. These internships allow faculty to take time during the summer to work in the practical world of business and gain cutting edge experience on the policies and practices governing today's businesses.
In addition, it provides local firms the opportunity to tap the expertise of CBA professors in addressing the pressing issues of today's business environment. The Mammel's generous gift creates a win-win opportunity for students, businesses and the College of Business Administration.
