Gary Penisten - Inducted in 1998
This native of Lincoln, Nebraska moved to Omaha where he attended Omaha North High School. Gary was highly a regarded athlete at North, playing baseball for the Vikings.
After his graduation from North in 1949, he played semiprofessional baseball in and around the Omaha area.
In addition to his athletic abilities, Penisten demonstrated his musical talents as a member of a dance band that he formed during his college days at Omaha University. As a senior at OU, his band provided the music for the annual Lang Syne Dance sponsored by the OU Alumni Association.
Following his graduation from Omaha U. in 1953, he turned down an offer from the Baltimore Orioles professional baseball team to enter General Electric's training program.
He served in the United States Navy and is a retired Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sterling Drug, Incorporated. He currently serves on the College of Business Administration's National Advisory Board.
Gary Penisten has been a strong financial supporter of the College of Business Administration for a number of years. His past gifts to the college have resulted in the naming of our Dean's office conference room as the Gary Penisten Conference Room in recognition for Mr. Penisten's dedication and support to CBA.
