OMAHA — A leader in sustainability reporting and the Citigroup whistleblower are the featured presenters at the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Accounting Speakers Series on Sept. 23.
Now in its fifth year, this annual event attracts accountants — who can earn continuing professional education credits — community members, students and faculty for a half day of professional development and networking.
This year’s keynote speaker is Kristen Sullivan, partner at Deloitte, who leads the firm’s sustainability, reporting, assurance and compliance services as well as social impact investing efforts.
The ethics speaker is Richard Bowen, known best as the Citigroup whistleblower. Bowen will speak about ethical leadership based on his first-hand knowledge of the bank’s securitization of defective mortgages during the financial crisis.
Breakfast and CPE sign-in begin at 7:30 a.m. in the UNO College of Business Administration’s Mammel Hall. Presentations are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Registration is available at accounting-speaker.eventbite.com. Tickets are $100 through Sept. 9. UNO students attend for free.
This event is supported by the UNO Accounting Department’s Corporate Partners: BMO Harris Bank, Bland & Associates, Deloitte, Hancock & Dana, and Valmont.
