New Faculty: Yanhui Zhao
Meet a new addition to CBA’s roster of diverse, dynamic faculty.
This fall, the UNO College of Business Administration welcomed nine new full-time faculty members — one of the largest classes in college history.
Dr. Yanhui Zhao, Assistant Professor of Marketing
Ph.D., Marketing, Michigan State University
Originally from Shandong, a province in eastern China, Yanhui Zhao just finished his doctorate at Michigan State University.
Zhao is currently working on several research projects. "My research primarily focuses on topics related to marketing strategy, such as branding strategy and sales management," he says.
When he's not teaching or doing research, Zhao enjoys traveling, photography, and playing basketball.

Why did you decide to become a professor?
I decided to become a professor mainly because of my passion about research and teaching. Research gives me a chance to create new knowledge and enhance the understanding of marketing. Teaching gives me a chance to disseminate the knowledge and make an impact on students’ lives and careers.
What are your impressions so far of UNO and the College of Business Administration?
My experience at UNO so far could not be better. I am still in a transition from Ph.D. student to faculty, and the colleagues at CBA provide great support to help me complete the transition. I have benefited tremendously from their advice and experience on how to balance research, teaching, and life.
What's your favorite thing about teaching and working with college students?
My favorite thing about working with college students is that it forces me to constantly learn new things. Marketing is a discipline where you cannot stop learning. New products, new marketing practices, and new marketing challenges emerge every day and every week. In order to expose my students to these new things, I have to keep learning and improving.
