The UNO College of Business Administration Scholars Academy is a close-knit community of ambitious, high-achieving business students who want to challenge themselves while pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
During this four-year program, Scholars are mentored by Omaha-area business professionals, take special business courses taught by award-winning faculty, and gain real-world experience through community engagement and international travel. They also receive generous scholarships.
Scholars are selected the spring of their senior year in high school after a rigorous and competitive application process.
Meet new member Dawson Kramer of Blair, Nebraska
Why did you choose UNO?
I chose UNO because of the great community and opportunities that are at the college. UNO is very affordable and prestigious at the same time and I could not ask for anything more. I look forward to being local and with a very diverse group of people.
Why did you choose business as a major?
I chose business so I could work with the two things I truly enjoy, the business world and people. I really want to be able to know the business world in and out, but also help others with their own business or financial questions or problems.
What business concentration are you planning to pursue? Why?
I have not fully decided on which concentration I will be pursing at the moment. I plan on keeping my options open to finding the right one for me that will fit my goals and passions. I trust UNO and the great people there to help me find my path in the business world.
What aspect of the Scholars Academy are you most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to the community of brilliant students who have similar goals and ideals as me. It is an amazing opportunity to get involved and have that community to fall back on and have that support.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time I spend most my time working and fishing. Fishing was a hobby I did with my dad as I was a child and slowly became my own thing. Fishing has taught me many life lessons and a great way to express myself as well as get time to myself and clear my mind.
What is one thing we would be surprised to know about you?
One thing that would be surprising is that I really enjoy working with kids. I helped work in the special education room while I was in high school and was one of my greatest experiences working with the kids every day.
