A student-led team consulted with STEMBoT Inc., a local educational technology startup, to provide a set of recommendations that would help carve out a plan for growth. Di-Ren Chen, a UNO CBA alum, found himself on the other side of the table as the student team crafted a mission statement based on the research they’d conducted.
Jon Parker, Ricky Oskey, and Calli Sibilia were paired with STEMBoT Inc. in October 2019. The company’s overall challenge was how to scale and grow given its unique structure and product offering. The team spent time talking with STEMBoT’s employees and partners to better understand the inner workings and makeup of the organization as well as the educational robtotics industry. The team worked in concert with the client to develop strategic recommendations for success based on the determined project scope.
The students walked away from the experience pleased with the opportunity to work with a real client and noted that “It allowed us to apply what we learned in the MBA program to a local organization with real problems. The process provided us with experience in presenting a solid recommendation on how to address those problems. This experience has instilled confidence in our skills and abilities while also providing us with an opportunity to learn valuable lessons in a business context with the support of the UNO faculty.”
For STEMBoT, they were presented with a way to align the organization to reach its goal of being in classrooms nationwide by 2030.
