Black History Month: Featuring Tiffany Hunter, MBA Student
In recognition of Black History Month, UNO CBA is recognizing Black faculty, students, alumni, and community members making an impact in Omaha and beyond.
We're proud to feature Tiffany Hunter, a current MBA student at UNO CBA and graduate of CBA's BSBA program. We asked Hunter what advice she would give to students and community members, why she chose UNO for her MBA, and where she's currently finding success.
What advice would you give Black students or community members interested in business, or striving for success in a certain field/industry?
"I would give Black students and community members the following pieces of advice:
- Follow your passion
- Establish goals
- Be persistent
- Invest in yourself
- Pay it forward
I’d also add - don’t be afraid to take risks!"
Why did you choose to pursue an MBA at UNO? What are your hopes after the program?
"Choosing to pursue an MBA at UNO was a no brainer. UNO’s College of Business offers a top tier education at an affordable price. Not only is the education top notch, but UNO is well known for supporting students and providing ample career opportunities through its many partnerships with local organizations. My plan is to leverage the additional education and relationships gained to continue to advance in my career and add value in my community."
What are you doing now that you're proud of?
"I’m currently working at Union Pacific as a Senior Sales Consultant, where I collaborate with customers across the country to develop rail transportation solutions to enhance their supply chain. Outside of work, I serve as the vice-chairwoman of the Omaha Municipal Land Bank Board of Directors, where I support the non-profit’s initiative to transform abandoned and dilapidated properties into community assets. Lastly, I’m always seeking opportunities to support community initiatives, provide mentorship, and collaborate with community leaders."
