UNO College of Business Administration’s Prep Academy Receives INSIGHT Into Diversity Magazine’s 2023 Inspiring Programs in Business Award

Today, the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) College of Business Administration’s (CBA) Prep Academy received the 2023 Inspiring Programs in Business Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publication in higher education. The Inspiring Programs in Business Award honors colleges and universities that encourage and assist students from underrepresented groups to enter the field of business. The CBA Prep Academy will be featured, along with 21 other recipients, in the April 2023 issue of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.

INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine selected the CBA Prep Academy because the academy is an awarding-winning diversity pipeline initiative aiming to increase college access and interest in business education through accessible programming focused on career exploration and learner success. Each summer, the Prep Academy holds camps for rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The camps give students who are interested in Business the opportunity to connect, network, and interact with Omaha-area industry leaders.

“Our dedicated faculty and staff at UNO’s College of Business Administration give our students the support and opportunities to become the next leaders in the global economy. With programs like the CBA Prep Academy, high school students across our community can experience a first-class business school and gain the confidence they need to achieve a four-year business degree,” said Michelle Trawick, John Becker Dean of the UNO College of Business Administration.

Inspiring Programs in Business Award winners were selected by INSIGHT Into Diversity based on efforts to inspire and encourage a new generation of young people to consider careers in business through mentoring, teaching, research, and successful programs and initiatives.

“We know that many business programs are not always recognized for their success, dedication, and mentorship for underrepresented students,” says Lenore Pearlstein, owner and publisher of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine. “We want to honor the schools and organizations that have created programs that inspire and encourage young people who may currently be in or are interested in a future career in business. We are proud to honor these programs as role models to other institutions of higher education and beyond.”

A call for nominations for this award was announced in November 2022.
