Biography
An artist, parent, and teacher, Joe is originally from Omaha.
He received an M.F.A. in Electronic Visualization from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
He has taught a variety of courses including drawing, 2D Design, 3D Design, New Media Art, animation, and now graphic design has become his main focus of instruction.
Joe’s art practice focuses on animation through means of analog and digital technologies.
Artist Statement
What is time and how does it work is infinitely fascinating to Joe. He investigates time through sequences in drawings and paintings.
These image sequences can be read as is, stationary key poses of a form changing, but they are usually digitally animated. Working on how to make something look like it is moving, transforming, evolving, really helps you see time.
Time and sequence are these things that allows you to walk around something and see it from multiple sides, explain an idea from beginning to end, or express a transformation. It takes time to change, to move from this to that.
