Biography
Matthew Bardin, originally a native of Central Florida, has written music for large ensembles, chamber groups, voice, solo instruments, and electronics and is affiliated with ASCAP. He holds a PhD in Experimental Music & Digital Media from Louisiana State University, a Master of Music from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and a Bachelor of Music from Stetson University. His works are often performed by several student soloists and groups throughout the course of the academic year. He also has presented his music at the annual Electric LaTex festival, co-hosted an online workshop at NIME 2020, and did the composition, sound design, and live audio for Dream Logos at Fringe 2022 in Edinburgh Scotland.
Matthew has studied with Drs. Sydney Hodkinson, Eun Young Lee, Tina Tallon, Jesse Allison and Mara Gibson. Matthew’s dissertation Cyberinet: Integrated Semi-Modular Sensors for the Computer-Augmented Clarinet saw the creation of a new method for utilizing sensors embedded within a clarinet to control performances. Version 2 and several new compositions utilizing the technology are currently underway. Matthew is currently teaching Music Technology courses as a Visiting Instructor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha following his time as a Sales Engineer at Sweetwater Sound.
Matthew also has Type I Diabetes and two cats: Bean & Skim.
