Biography
Christopher is a doctoral jazz student in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music. There he plays lead trombone in the UNL Jazz Orchestra and is a member of the UNL Graduate Jazz Combo, and additionally directs the UNL Big Band and coaches undergraduate jazz combos. Chris has performed with pop icons such as Wayne Newton and Johnny Mathis as well as Ernie Watts, Scott Whitfield, Jackie Allen, and others. Chris is in-demand as a pianist, trombonist, clinician, adjudicator, and educator and performs frequently in the Lincoln-Omaha area and throughout the Midwest.
His duties at UNO include teaching private applied jazz piano lessons, teaching jazz piano studio masterclass, and helping to run the jazz area's monthly jam session. Chris received his bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville where he studied trombone with Stan Kenton band alumni Brett Stamps and piano with jazz giant Peter Martin, and his master's degree from Northern Illinois University under the tutelage of former Maynard Ferguson musical director and trombonist Tom Garling and Essentially Ellington clinician and pianist Reggie Thomas.
