General Information
Biography
I graduated with both my B.A. in Communication Studies and my M.A. in Communication both from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. My research interests include Intercultural Communication, Small Group Communication, Public Speaking, Team Cohesion, and Forensics. My role at UNO has been significant in that I've been teaching at least part time since Fall 2015, I've coached the award-winning MavForensics team, and I have served as an Admissions Representative in which I recruited students from 2017-2019. Though my extensive training in public speaking, I have won hundreds of awards, and have coached individual students to win hundreds of awards on their own.
Research Interests
My main research areas are intercultural communication. To be more specific, how Biracial or multiracial individuals identify based off their family members and personal experiences. Another area of research that I'm interested in is Black culture and what makes it so unique. Namely, topics that discuss music, history, and analysis of rhetorical devices throughout Black culture.Beyond this, I'm heavily interested in team cohesion and small group communication. Being a forensics coach, specifically at UNO was a dream of mine since I joined the team in 2010. Being in this position only reinforced my love for teams and the educational nature of being a part of a forensics team.
