The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) School of Music was recently granted renewal of its membership to the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
The accreditation concludes comprehensive evaluation process that began in 2017. Institutions applying for membership renewal must go a multi-step process outlined by NASM, including preparing a self-study report and arranging for an on-site evaluation.
NASM commended UNO’s School of Music for its commitment to providing excellent facilities for music instruction and performance.
“The renewal of accreditation by the NASM signifies a great achievement for the UNO School of Music,” said Washington Garcia, D.M.A., director of the School of Music. “Not only does it provide an external objective evaluation but it also shows through data, the continuing success of our programs.”
The School of Music is home to more than 200 undergraduate and graduate students and offers an innovative curriculum in fundamental music skills along with a solid foundation in theory, history and analysis.
Each school accreditation by NASM lasts for 10 years.
