The College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media, along with the School of Music and UNO Opera Theatre, performed a special, one-time performance of the show "Speed Dating Tonight!"
The show, by opera composer Michael Ching, was in the Strauss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The original event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This show was captured so that family, friends and the public could enjoy. This production was to have been staged on March 13-14, 2020.
Background: CFAM faculty involved were Shelby VanNordstrand, Director, Associate Professor of Voice and Hal France, Musical Director, Instructor of Musical Theatre. The opera class usually meets on Fridays, and so the cast came together and performed the show to an empty house.
Special thanks for videographer Aaron Zavitz, who helped with the project.
There have been close to 100 productions of this opera since it debuted in 2011.
