Amy Millicent Morris, PhD, is the new School of the Arts director in the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media at the University of Nebraska Omaha.
Amy, a Professor of Art History, begins her leadership role July 1. The School of the Arts consists of the units of Art & Art History, Writer's Workshop, and Theatre as well as the MFA in Writing graduate program.
"It is a great honor to be the School of the Arts Director. I am most excited about finding opportunities for students and faculty to engage in collaborative art projects and helping to establish Art & Art History, Theatre, and Writer's Workshop as destination programs. The school continues to be the creative heart of UNO. We are the only school in a 400 mile radius of Omaha that is structured into one school. Omaha has a vibrant artistic community where there are more galleries, museums, theatres, and performance venues per capita than any other city in our region. These provide a great backdrop for our students’ to begin their arts careers with rich cultural experiences, and many opportunities for networking, professional internships, and employment."
