The School of Communication is off to another successful year. Below are some of the awards and accomplishments of our students and faculty. It's no surprise that we are called "The School of Success"
Here are our highlights!
Communication Studies undergraduate, Meg McCoy, was selected as the CFAM student marshal for the December 2022 commencement.
Katelyn Lambert is awarded Top Thesis for "To him, we are just things": A feminist critique on the evolution of women's representation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Dr. Adam Tyma (Chair), Dr. Andrea M. M. Weare and Caitlin Cass (Committee Members)
PRSSA Nebraska awarded three Paper Anvil Awards to our students’ work. They are for:
Award of Excellence: One Choice Reviews Lives organ donation campus event
Award of Merit: Wear Black Give Back 2021
Award of Merit: Santa Paws fundraiser for Hearts United for Animals
MavPR earned a PRSSA Nebraska Award of Merit in the professional category for COMM UNO Magazine
Alumna Diana Muñoz was hired as Social Media and Communication Specialist at Great Plains Communications
Andrew Stem presented at the Chuck Hagel Symposium in Public Service

Adjunct, Torri Panteleon co-hosted a Saturday morning high school football show on 1180 The Zone 2 (KZOT)
Dr. Joy Chao was interviewed by the journalist Wing Kuang, at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation
PRSSA students Miranda McCord, Delaney Henton, Jordan Speckmann and Eva Burklund placed 2nd in the PRSSA National Organ Donor Awareness Competition for their campaign One Choice Renews Lives. They will be recognized at the International PRSA Conference Awards Ceremony in Texas.
