School of Communication Students and Faculty Member Earn National Awards from Broadcast Education Association

Three Journalism and Mass Communication students and one faculty member will accept awards from the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Festival of Media Arts 2023 awards in Las Vegas on April 16. BEA is the international academic media organization for educators, students, and professionals. It is considered the education side of the National Association of Broadcasters.
More than 1650 entries representing 300 international colleges and universities competed in 10 categories showcasing their writing, production and digital storytelling skills. Senior Jamie Harvey’s podcast Modern Memetics was recognized as one of only 16 “Best of” Festival Awards. Harvey will receive $1000 and a crystal award during a special ceremony.
This is the fourth BEA award for MavRadio.FM faculty advisor Jodeane Brownlee. UNO’s college radio program was ranked 9th in the BEA Recognition of Institutional Excellence in Media audio programs.
