Physical Education Coaching Concentration
Students choosing the coaching concentration gain further insight into improving their coaching skills and strategies. Emphasis is placed on providing students with classroom experiences that allow them to constructively evaluate their performances and develop strategies for improving their coaching techniques.
The Coaching Concentration area is designed for the physical education teacher and classroom teacher who coach and are interested in coaching effectiveness research, psychological and sociological principles as they relate to sport, and selected topics in sports medicine.
Physical Education Pedagogy Concentration
The Pedagogy Concentration is designed for the physical education student who is interested in studying teacher effectiveness research, instructional strategies, and curriculum issues.
This concentration allows those certified K-12 physical educators to further develop their teaching effectiveness, research, instructional strategies, and curriculum issues. This is achieved through various courses ranging from curriculum development and “content” courses to exercise physiology.
Special Admission Requirements
In addition to normal requirements, the following are required:
- Two letters of recommendation
- Statement of goals and rationale for entering the graduate program (maximum of 300 words)
