Dr. Janice Garnett recognized with Legacy Award in Education

Omaha – Dr. Janice Garnett was honored on Sept. 19 at the 9th Annual Women of Color in Leadership Summit and Legacy Awards Luncheon, a signature event of the Omaha Chamber of the National Coalition of 100 Black Woman. Dr. Garnett is an instructor in the College of Education’s (COE) Educational Leadership Department.

According to an Omaha Star article highlighting the event, Dr. Garnett was among ten influential women of color who received Legacy Awards for their work in making a difference in the lives of black women and girls in the Omaha community. In addition to celebrating the accomplishments of the award recipients, the summit provided attendees with networking, leadership, and professional development opportunities through breakout sessions and keynote speakers. The morning keynote speaker was COE alumna Alisa (Cole) Parmer (BS '04).

Dr. Garnett was recognized with a Legacy Award for her 30 years of leadership in the field of education.
