Allies for Sign Language
The main objective of this organization shall be to unite members and community for the purpose of fellowship, friendship and promote academic achievement; act as a resource to attract and retain deaf and hard of hearing students; provide a basis for cultural exchange among the Deaf students and the hearing students; advocate for accessibility; further the understanding of Deaf culture throughout the world; promote discussion of current trends and issues relating to deaf education; as well as provide social activities that include members of the deaf community.

Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD)
UNO has the distinction of being the first Nebraska student chapter of the international organization of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. The international organization has over 160,000 members and student chapters on over 50 campuses throughout the world. ASCD provides professional development in curriculum and instruction, and concentrates on teaching and learning for all school students.
Membership in the student organization provides a subscription to Educational Leadership, Education Update newsletter, Curriculum Update, discounts on many ASCD products, and the opportunity to network with other UNO students who are planning to be teachers. The local chapter meets about three times a semester – for professional and social interaction.

Biomechanics United
Biomechanics United is an American Society of Biomechanics student body chapter which provides both graduate and undergraduate students the opportunity to network and interact with one another outside a classroom or laboratory setting. The group is student run and student focused with an emphasis on building greater relationships amongst the biomechanics community at UNO.
Since its conception in 2018, Biomechanics United continues to expand and evolve. The group has begun to assist in planning the Annual Human Movement Variability/Great Plains Biomechanics Conference hosted by the department each year. It is Biomechanics United’s goal to expose students to the planning process of a large meeting as well as to improve student networking events during the meeting. As the group continues to grow and develop, the goal of Biomechanics United will be to continue to bring graduate and undergraduate biomechanics student together to build comradery and prepare its members for their future careers.

Chi Sigma Iota, Upsilon Nu Omicron Chapter
This is the international honor society for students, professional counselors, and counselor educators established at Ohio University in 1985. Our mission is to promote scholarship, research, professionalism, leadership, and excellence in counseling, and to recognize high attainment in the pursuit of academic and clinical excellence in the profession of counseling.
Early Childhood Education Student Organization (ECESO)
The mission of ECESO is to develop early childhood teacher candidates’ understandings of the early childhood profession from classroom, community-based, and family perspectives through meetings and service projects. Our meetings include occasional guest speakers, field trips, gatherings with community-wide early childhood student groups from local universities and colleges, and preparations for community service projects.
Our organization volunteers with the Omaha Week of the Young Child annual events and Celebrating Young Children Conference each spring semester. All teacher candidates who have interests in working with children from pre-k-through-age-eight are welcome to join.
Exercise is Medicine On Campus (EIM-OC)
The purpose of this organization is to promote physical activity as a vital sign of health and activate EIM within our campus community. Our goal is for every student to graduate with better health and fitness than when they began, to become knowledgeable and passionate advocates for the benefits of regular physical activity, and to work toward the systematic assessment and promotion of physical activity within health care.

Kappa Delta Pi
International Honor Society is a prestigious honor society for future students aspiring to become 21st-century teachers. Membership in Kappa Delta Pi is based on scholarly achievement, commitment to excellence, and dedication and passion for a career in education.
Undergraduate pre-service teachers, and graduate students, are invited each fall and spring to become involved in an organization with a 100-year tradition rich in honor and excellence. Through Kappa Delta Pi membership one has access to a vast professional network of more than 45,000 active members that includes the world’s best and brightest scholars and practitioners in education.
For students, membership is open only to the top 20% of those entering the education field. Regardless of your subject area specialty or the grade level you want to teach, KDP offers something to assist you in being the best educator you can be—now and in the future.

National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA)
The UNO chapter is a pre-professional membership association for students interested in the study of communication sciences and disorders.

Student Education Association of Nebraska (SEAN)
The mission and purpose of SEAN are to develop in prospective educators an understanding of the education profession both in and out of the classroom. This is done through the stimulation of the highest ideals of professional ethics, standards, and attitudes.
All CEHHS students are encouraged to join. Teacher candidates may obtain an independent liability policy or may obtain liability insurance through membership in SEAN.

Student Council for Exceptional Children
SCEC is an organization that is dedicated to improving the educational success of individuals with disabilities. The student chapter is associated with the International Council for Exceptional Children and focuses on supporting and volunteering in the local community with individuals with disabilities.

UNO Public Health Student Association (UNOPH-SA)
Membership in the UNO Public Health Student Association provides students the opportunity to assume leadership roles while participating in professional health education activities.
A number of the projects that the UNO Public Health Student Association sponsors each year are: Trees for Trails (a tree planting project), The Bell Tower Challenge (a food drive for the Omaha Food Bank), A Web of Health (a Website Treasure Hunt for Good Health Resources).
