Biography
Amber O'Shea has over a decade of teaching experience in kindergarten and first-grade classrooms in Lincoln, Nebraska, she transitioned to academia, serving three years as an assistant professor at North Dakota State University within the teacher preparation program. In 2023-24, Amber served as the program coordinator for the early intervention strand at Trinity College Dublin.
Teaching Interests
Amber's teaching focus includes Early Childhood Education and Elementary Literacy with an emphasis on student well-being, utilizing the Whole Child approach, Universal Design for Learning, and play-based learning. Her goals center on providing UNO students with practical and applicable strategies for student learning.
Research Interests
Amber's research aims to enhance educational practices and support the social-emotional development of students in supportive and inclusive learning environments. Some of her projects include hope education, play-based literacy instruction, social-emotional development, and experiential learning.
