Financial Support for Teachers
Pursuing graduate studies is hard work and comes with financial costs. We're working hard to support teachers earning credentials in teaching computing!
Traditional financial aid packages and scholarships are available to graduate students who qualify. In addition, teachers from various districts may be eligible for various tuition assistance programs depending on their unique circumstances.
Current opportunities for additional assistance are described below, but we also encourage those who are interested to contact us to discuss other possibilities that may be available.
Dual Enrollment Instruction Support
Tuition support may be available to support teachers actively engaged in or pursuing dual enrollment instruction with UNO and the College of Information Science & Technology. Teachers and schools interested in pursuing dual enrollment opportunities in computing should contact the Office of General Education and Dual Enrollment to discuss possibilities.
Career-Readiness and Dual-Credit Education Grant
The Nebraska Coordinating Commisison on Postsecondary Education now offers a Career-Readiness and Dual-Credit Education Grant program to support teachers who are pursuing graduate credits towards career-related endorsements (like the IT Supplemental Endorsement) or to enable teachers to be eligible to offer dual college credit courses at their high schools. IT and Computer Science programs are among the high priority areas identified by the state for this grant program, and UNO's CS Education Graduate Certificate, Cybersecurity Graduate Certificate and Data Analytics Gradaute Certificate programs are all eligible. For more information about eligibility and application processes, please see the grant program website.
Enhancing Excellence in Teaching Program
Nebraska Teachers may be eligible for the Enhancing Excellence in Teaching Program (EETP), which offers forgivable loans to teachers enrolled in eligible graduate programs. More information is available on the Nebraska CCPE website or by contacting Kelcy Sass at kelcy.sass@nebraska.gov
Support for Out-of-State Students
UNO offers multiple mechanisms to help defray the cost of attendance for out-of-state graduate students, including students in our Computer Science Education program.
- UNO offers a reduced OUR tuition rate for students from 15 different states. OUR tuition rates are applicable for online coursework for residents of these states as well. If you are a current resident of one of theses states or graduated from a high school in one of them, you will automatically receive the OUR tuition rate when enrolling in UNO classes.
- The office of Graduate Studies offers other suggestions for helping support the cost of earning your master's degree.
