At NebraskaCYBER, community outreach is taken very seriously as one way to attract our students and cybersecurity professionals of the future.
In particular, NebraskaCYBER is aware of the need for greater numbers from currently under-represented populations in IT and strives to reach out to students within these groups in particular. Community outreach takes the form of short workshops for school students visiting on a field trip, area boy and girl scouts working on merit or interest badge, and week-long day camps in the summer.
Many different areas of IT hardware, software, and cybersecurity are used in these workshops and camps, to give students a wide variety of experiences with various aspects of IT. By encouraging students to reach out to a field they may have previously felt was inaccessible to them, these same students are empowered to reach out in other areas of their lives which in turn can help to develop leadership skills as well. NebraskaCYBER is proud of its students of today and always looking out for its students of tomorrow.
