Omaha – The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) College of Information Science and Technology (IS&T) is proud to be the 2016 host for the IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI) and the International Conference on Brain Informatics & Health (BIH). Celebrating the 60th anniversary of Artificial Intelligence, the 2016 WIBIH international conferences will host a join session at IS&T, bringing together researchers and practitioners, high-quality, original research papers and real-world applications in all theoretical and technology areas. The conference expects nearly 300 attendees from 30 different countries and will be held October 13 - 16, 2016 at the Hilton Omaha.
"To be hosting the 2016 International Conference on Web Intelligence and the International Conference on Brain Informatics & Health is a great honor,” Hesham Ali, dean of the College of Information Science and Technology said. “This is an opportunity for Nebraska and the University of Nebraska at Omaha to showcase our city and state while bringing together nationally renowned informatics researchers and practitioners from around the world.”
This year marks the first time the WI conference and the BIH conference will be hosted together in one location. These conferences come to Omaha after being held in global locations such as Tokyo, Sydney, London and Singapore and put UNO and our technology programs on the global map.
“We are excited to bring these conferences to Omaha,” Dr. Ning Zhong, Chairman of the Web Intelligence Consortium and based in Tokyo, Japan said. “With an ideal combination of technology and health industries and UNO’s College of IS&T, Omaha is a perfect backdrop for these conferences.”
Keynote talks for the WI’16 conference include Dr. Leslie Valiant, a professor of computer science and applied mathematics in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University and Dr. Butler Lampson, a technical fellow at Microsoft Corporation and adjunct professor at MIT. Both Dr. Valiant and Dr. Lampson are recipients of the Turning Award, an annual prize given by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) for contributions made to the computing community and is often referred to as the “Nobel Prize” of computing.
Keynote talks for the BIH’16 conference include Dr. Stephen Smith, a senior investigator at the Allen Institute for Brain Science, and Dr. Ivan Soltesz, a professor of neurosurgery and neurosciences at the Stanford School of Medicine.
WIBIH’16 is sponsored in part by IEEE, Association for Computing Machinery, Web Intelligence Consortium, International Neural Network Society, Springer, and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
