Q: Why did you decide to come to UNO? What opportunities here did you see helping you with your future career?
A major factor that drew me to UNO was the advancement in technology they have compared to other colleges around Nebraska. They have everything from cybersecurity programs to biomedical programs.
Q: How did you learn about Management Information Systems? Did you take any classes in high school in the topic?
At first, I wanted to get into cosmetology but I have always been attracted to technology since the age of 9 when I got my first computer. It didn't hit me until my junior year of high school that a job in the technology field is what I was actually passionate about because I would always do things technology related thinking it was just a hobby for me. I chose MIS because it has a mixture of both computer science and business which includes classes that are important for any career you want to be in. Many businesses now require at least a little bit of knowledge of computers and business, which with this degree will put you on the top of their list when applying for a job.
Q: What does Management Information Systems mean to you? Can you describe it?
My major means to me a "door of opportunities" which sounds cliche, but you are truly able to find a career anywhere from a hospital to a big organization with this major. You will have the background knowledge of both a business and computer science person.
Q: Do you have a class that really impacted you?
The class I enjoyed the most was my IT Ethics course because I am now much more familiar with recognizing ethical issues, comparing social ethical rights and privileges and the intellectual property concepts.
Q: What do you do for fun in your free time?
In my free time, since becoming an instructor at Techademy, I have been practicing coding on Scratch.
