Biography
Lauren Zimmerman, M.S., is a third-year doctoral student in the College of Information Science & Technology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Her research interests include extremism, technology, and the intersection of the two. Her dissertation explores how ideology affects technology use and the affordances that appeal to extremist groups.
Lauren’s research focuses on how extremists use new and emerging technologies and how national security personnel can use new technologies for counterintelligence purposes.
Her current project is exploring how chatbots can support suspicious activity reporting.
Lauren is also a junior research associate at the National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education Center (NCITE), a DHS Center of Excellence, where she supports project management and science communication.
