Dr. Ann L. Fruhling is the founding Director of the School of Interdisciplinary Informatics and a Professor in the College of Information Science & Technology at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) housed in the Peter Kiewit Institute.
Her research areas include: agile system development, implementation and management strategies, e-health user interface usability studies, and system design strategies for medical emergency response systems. She has published several research articles in the areas of agile system development, emergency response systems, and user interface usability.
Dr. Fruhling has received over $8,200,000 in research-related funding, with 99 funded research projects that have supported over 80 students and 2 full-time employees. Students are able to apply their academic knowledge to real-world problems and are given opportunities to explore and innovate, conduct research, and publish findings all while gaining practical experience. Dr. Fruhling frequently engages in mentoring and provides guidance for students, and she has assisted more than 30 graduate and doctoral students with preparing and presenting theses and dissertations.
