CPACS DEAI Awards
Awarded annually by the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS) Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion (DEAI) Committee
- The CPACS DEAI Alumni Achievement Award recognizes UNO alumni who have made commendable achievements since graduating from UNO. The Award acknowledges the achievements of alumni from underrepresented backgrounds at UNO and/or alumni of any background who have made substantial contributions to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, or accessibility in their respective field. All individuals who graduated from UNO are eligible for the Award.
- The CPACS DEAI Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals with an exemplary record of promoting greater diversity, equity, inclusion, or accessibility at UNO. UNO faculty, administrators, and staff who have worked for the University for more than 6 years are eligible for the award. Efforts to promote DEAI must include service activities but can also include those related to teaching or research. The nominee’s distinguished record of service may involve contributions to the University or to the individual’s college or unit that exceed expectations for that person’s role.
- The CPACS DEAI Emerging Leader Award recognizes individuals who have made strides early in their careers to promote greater diversity, equity, inclusion, or accessibility at UNO. UNO students, pre-tenure faculty, and non-tenure track faculty or staff who have worked for the University for fewer than 6 years are eligible for the Award. Efforts to promote DEAI can include those related to teaching, research, or service, and can be contributions to the University or to the individual’s college or unit that exceed expectations for that person’s role.
- Difference “Sixty” Makes Award: This award honors an individual who embodies the spirit and commitment to societal transformation, similar to the late Mr. Sixty Andrews. The recipient actively engages in difficult conversations surrounding systemic racism, oppression, and social inequities, contributing to a more inclusive and equitable future at UNO and in the Greater Omaha community.
One individual will be selected for each award.
The committee may decide not to give an award in any given year.
