He is a former military police officer, serving in the United States Marines for ten years. Following his military service, he lived in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he worked as a police officer and then as a deputy sheriff.
He retired from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office in Shreveport, LA. He also gained certification as a corrections officer.
