Ms. Scott has been in law enforcement since 1992, where she started with the Omaha Police Department (OPD). She retired from OPD in 2021 at the rank of Captain. Ms. Scott currently works for the Loveland Police Department in Loveland, Colorado where she serves as an Assistant Chief. She is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session #274, and remains an active member of the FBINAA. During her law enforcement career, Laurie has worked a diverse career path, overseeing a variety of bureaus and divisions in her respective agency assignments. She has taught for the University of Nebraska at Omaha as an adjunct professor since 2001. Laurie also established the Nebraska Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) which helps support survivors of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
