Emergency Management and Disaster Science Minors
Emergency Management and Disaster Science offers three minors. Each minor provides an in depth cross section of its corresponding profession. Students will gain valuable information that will enhance their primary field of study as well as their marketability in the workforce. We are becoming a nationally known program! According to Dr. Yu-Che Chen with the School of Public Administration, “We are becoming national leaders with AI and tribal emergency communications. We have one of the top programs in the nation in this area, thanks to the National Science Foundation Grant.”
Emergency Management
The Emergency Management minor is designed for students with an interest in applying emergency management principles to their area of study. Emergency Management complements many majors, including Criminology and Criminal Justice, Engineering, Business and Supply Chain Management, Public Health, Geography, Information Technology, and many more. The minor requires 18 credit hours.

Fire Service Management
The Fire Service Management minor provides expertise in emergency fire response, and prepares students for the management of fire service and public safety personnel, physical and financial resources, and risk identification. The minor is a stepping-stone for those interested in careers related to fire. The minor requires 18 credit hours.

Tribal Management and Emergency Services
The Tribal Management and Emergency Services minor prepares students to work with Native Nations. Students will be prepared to assist Native communities plan for, respond to and recover from man made and natural disasters and emergencies. The minor requires 18 credit hours.

A certificate in Tribal Management and Emergency Services is available.
A concentration in Tribal Management and Emergency Services is also available within the Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management.
In addition to the required courses, a grade of "C-" or better is required in each course.
Declare a Minor
Interested students should meet with their academic advisor, complete the Change of Academic Program form, and have it signed by the Emergency Management and Disaster Science academic advisor in 114 CPACS.
