Biography
Nuri Heckler, J.D., Ph.D. focuses his research on Whiteness and Masculinity in public organizations including nonprofits, social enterprise, and government. Using experimental, qualitative, historical, and theoretical research methods, he examines the mechanisms that reinforce inequities and inefficiencies in public organizations. As a Maryland barred attorney, his research also examines the role law plays in the work of public administrators. His research can be found in Administrative Theory & Praxis, Journal of Public Administration Research & Theory, Administration & Society, Journal of Public Affairs Education, Urban Affairs Review, and Public Integrity among others. He is an avid commuter cyclist who spends his free time with his two children and baking award-winning cookies.
Teaching Interests
Dr. Heckler teaches public administration and nonprofit management courses, along with social equity, and administrative law.

Service Summary
Nuri Heckler's service to the community and the university focuses on cultivating social equity in all aspects of the school. He supports the Public Administration Students Association to help give students a voice in their education. He organizes a twice annual film discussion series to promote open dialogue around difficult public administration topics. In Omaha, he sits on the steering committee for the Omaha Community Council for Racial Justice and Reconciliation.He serves the profession as the Board Chair of the Public Administration Theory Network, an organization dedicated to promoting cutting edge theoretical research on public service. Additionally, he serves as co-chair of the ARNOVA 50th Anniversary Celebration Committee.
