Dr. Reyes Nunez is an Assistant Professor in the School of Public Administration (SPA). She holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration and a Master's degree in Political Science with a concentration in international affairs, both from the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO). With a rich background in public service, she has worked for the Mexican federal government at the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs, where she specialized in international relations, migration, and information & strategy.
In Omaha, she supported the Spanish-speaking community through the Douglas County Health Department during the COVID-19 pandemic, offering vital assistance. Her research contributions span topics such as disaster preparedness, climate change policy, women’s participation and representation in public policy, and the experiences of Latinos/as in Nebraska.
Her current scholarship explores the role of women's representation and participation in shaping climate change policy with a comparative perspective.
Teaching Interests
Her teaching interests include undergraduate courses such as Strategic Planning and Introduction to Emergency Management. Graduate courses include Organization Theory & Behavior, Social Policy, and Qualitative Methods.
Research Interests
Climate change policy, gender & feminism in public administration and public policy, Latino communities, qualitative methods, and international and comparative perspectives.
Service Summary
Service includes community involvement in Omaha from supporting events, to professional service. Currently, Dr. Reyes Nunez collaborates in three projects:
2025- present. Council Member at the American Society of Public Administration (ASPA) Nebraska Chapter.
2025- present. Collaborator at Heartland 2050. Metropolitan Area Planning Agency (MAPA).
2023- present. Member of the Board of Trustees for the Latino Economic Development Council (LEDC).
